BODART & GONAY is a Belgian company which designs and manufactures wood- and gas-burning heating appliances, mainly in the form of built-in fireplaces, which combine the beauty of the flame with maximum heat recovery and respect for the environment.

BODART & GONAY also designs and manufactures individual and shared letterboxes, specialising in particular in the installation of letterboxes in entrances to buildings as well as the high-end sector.

Since its creation in 1957, the company has not stopped expanding: in 2006 its turnover reached 20 million Euros, with more than 35% coming from exports. Backed by constant investment, it is present today in some thirty countries worldwide, including the United States and Japan, and employs more than 100 people.

While the vast majority of our competitors are developing and manufacturing abroad, Bodart & Gonay is one of last companies to be 100% Belgian. Skilled workers work alongside welding robots to meet an ever-growing demand. This complete control of the R&D and production processes has for many years guaranteed impeccable service, reactivity to every challenge, incomparable product knowledge as well as the ongoing transfer of experience and expertise.

In its approved laboratory, equipped with the latest technology, the BODART & GONAY “Research & Development" department, made up of around ten specialist engineers, researchers, designers and prototypers, is constantly examining how to improve and create products, making it possible to offer high-performance innovations to its clients every year.

 

 

 

Bodart & Gonay is also one of the rare companies which still has its own certified laboratory, not only obtaining the results of the various tests carried out (combustion, output, emissions, etc.) but also regularly re-equipped with the latest equipment, so as to be at the cutting edge of technology, keep pace with current standards and also anticipate and comfortably exceed the strictest future standards for the European market, relating to output, pollution and even safety.

Worldwide patents

The R&D office has obtained international recognition thanks to its worldwide patents (EES), making it possible to develop gas appliances specifically for the American market (which has the strictest safety regulations in the world!), create new niche markets by developing appliances which are simply not on the market (SD442) and still obtain truly exceptional results in terms of dust emissions, CO emissions and output (800 and Phenix Green ranges).

The wood-burning range from BODART & GONAY highlights its passion for fire which you can share through high-tech appliances combining maximum performance and aesthetics. For example, all our wood-burning models offer very high output (between 75 and 83%) and are equipped with automatic fire control!

THE 800 GREEN RANGE
THE FIRST ECO-FRIENDLY FIREPLACES!

BODART & GONAY pulled out all the stops in designing their famous “OPTIFIRE 800 Green” in 2008, which was introduced on the market as the very first built-in eco-friendly wood-burning fireplace in the world!

This model displays a spectacular reduction in CO emissions which are now close to zero, comfortably below future European regulations which come into force in 2011!

What’s more, these exceptional results have been achieved without the use of costly and/or energy-consuming devices, such as catalytic converters or resistors.

The BODART & GONAY “Green” appliance range has since greatly expanded with the arrival on the market of the INFIRE and DESIGN 800 Green, developed around the same process, which are an integral part of these completely new generation wood-burning fireplaces.

These will be followed with in September 2010 by the new lifting-screen PHENIX Green range; truly revolutionary appliances, available in 4 sizes (see relevant sheet).

“PASSIVE HOUSE” APPROVED

A wood-burning fireplace in a passive house? This is now possible with BODART & GONAY 800 Infire, Optifire & Design Green range appliances, certified as completely airtight!

Because they can draw combustion air directly from outside, they are separate from the mechanical air-flow system of the house. Completely airtight*, they can therefore be installed without difficulty in any passive or low energy house.

* Tests carried out on an actual installation by an accreditation body (Construction Science and Technology Centre).

It is also possible to opt to draw air from the room.

THE INGENIOUS SD 442 FIREPLACE…

The only one of its kind on the market!

The SD 442 model from BODART & GONAY is the only one of its kind on the market! It stands out from other appliances with retractable screens because the screen opens by sliding to the side of the appliance, changing it in the blink of an eye from a closed fire to an open fire!

 

Unlike traditional appliances with lifting screens, the SD 442 in easily installed in any existing fireplace, without having to alter the wall of the fireplace.

HYPER-COMPACT

For this reason and because it is hyper-compact, it is easily installed in places you have never dreamt of, such as the office, kitchen, veranda or bedroom, etc.

LOW ENERGY HOUSE CERTIFIED

Though retractable, the SD 442 is almost totally airtight thanks to its external air supply and is now perfectly suited to installation in a low energy house!

 

This unique feature also provides exceptionally high output for this type of appliance. When closed, it is a proper heating appliance.

NUMEROUS OPTIONS

Aesthetically, the SD 442 has numerous decorative options, easily interchangeable, even after several years. An ingenious screen system makes it possible to conceal a wood storage space in the wall below the fireplace.

 

Despite all these benefits, the SD 442 is still less costly than a conventional retractable fireplace.

GAS-BURNING FIREPLACES

THE SAFEST GAS-BURNING RANGE IN THE WORLD …

THANKS TO THE NEW “SAFE GAS EVOLUTION” KIT

Particularly remarkable thanks to their subtly sophisticated innovative design, BODART & GONAY gas-burning fireplaces combine exceptional heating power and the guarantee of absolute safety, thanks to the new “Safe Gas Evolution” kit which will gradually be installed as standard on all appliances in the range.

Anti-explosion systems

-       Easy opening screen on at least two axles allows greater extraction of gases and prevents the window from breaking.

-       Anti-explosion door also allows greater extraction of gases.

-       The thermocouple provides double flame control: pilot light ignition and the guarantee of a flame when the pilot light is on.

-       A second thermocouple controls the burner flame and ensures the ignition switch is working correctly. If there is no connection between the pilot light and the burner, the valve shuts off.

-       To prevent the accumulation of gas inside the appliance, it is not possible to carry out more than 3 consecutive ignitions in less than 5 minutes.

Concentric ducts

Thanks to the airtightness of the fireplaces and concentric ducts, no CO leaks out into the room. The risk of CO poisoning is therefore nil.

THE E.E.S. (EXCLUSIVE EXTRACTION SYSTEM) …

THE ONLY TECHNOLOGY OF ITS KIND IN THE WORLD!

A gas insert with extraction positioned up to 50 metres away horizontally… It is possible now thanks to our exclusive EES extraction system which removes all conventional positioning constraints!

Patented worldwide, and recently nominated at the prestigious “Vesta Green Awards” at the HPBA Show in Orlando, USA, the EES is destined to become the strategic heart of every BODART & GONAY gas installation!

 

NO MORE CONSTRAINTS!

 

The EES removes all traditional rules relating to extraction ducts, freeing up the installation of your BODART & GONAY gas-burning fireplace. It allows a duct length of up to 50m which can be installed horizontally, downwards or in any other direction! All layouts for houses and apartments are now possible! The aesthetics of the flames is identical to those obtained by natural draw.

 

EASIER AND LESS COSTLY!

 

The EES reduces the diameter of the ducts to 130mm. This makes installation considerably easier and reduces costs significantly!

 

Standard on all gas range models, compact and silent, the EES is easy to use, install and maintain, etc.

 

For the convenience of the user, all gas-burning fireplaces equipped with the EES have a modern remote control complete with programming mode, choice of language, thermostatic or manual flame adjustment and safety temperature.

 

ABSOLUTE SAFETY!

 

The system is totally safe thanks to the direct link between the EES and the fireplace. The gas extraction flow is adapted automatically according to the operating system of the fireplace and external conditions. Gas shuts off at the first sign of a problem!
